PRE-DEVELOPMENT TREE SURVEY
A comprehensive tree survey was carried out in accordance with BS5837:2012 Trees in relation to demolition, design and construction – Recommendations. The site is a former housing estate situated in Stockport and is a key strategic development site due to its links with the city, the M60 and the River Mersey.
We produced a pre-development tree report designed to inform the conceptual design by highlighting the above and below ground arboricultural constraints on the site.
The site offers challenges relating to site topography and the former site usage, the young tree regeneration has quickly colonised the derelict land and is growing on rough ground, steep embankments and the edge of former roads. A number of mature trees and groups were recorded that were valuable due to their local landscape importance and their association with the riverside corridor and local context.
The future stages of the project and arboricultural input will be an important element to retaining, enhancing and regenerating the tree population in this area.
